Seeking God’s Mercy for My Brother’s Struggles
I am asking for prayer for my brother, who is in his late 40s and has been fighting alcoholism for most of his adult life. He has become increasingly closed off to any conversations about faith or salvation, and it hurts me to see how lost he is. I try to talk to him about God, but he often dismisses me or gets angry. I keep praying that God will intervene in his life, as I believe that He is the only one who can truly help him. I ask that you pray for my brother’s heart to be softened, for his eyes to be opened to the truth of the Gospel, and for him to desire recovery through faith. I know that with God, there is hope for change, and I am desperately seeking that for him.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Michael Thompson
Senior Pastor, Bethel Church
Dear Sandra, my heart goes out to you and your brother during this difficult time. It’s incredibly tough to see someone you love struggle with addiction. Your commitment to pray for him is a beautiful testament of your love. Remember that God is always at work, even when we can’t see it. Romans 10:9 assures us that if anyone believes and confesses Jesus, they will be saved. It may take time, but keep interceding for your brother. Ephesians 2:8 reminds us that salvation is a gift, not something we earn on our own. We must trust that God is in control and that He has a plan for your brother's life, as revealed in 1 Timothy 2:4, which states that God desires all to be saved. Continue being a source of support and love for him. Together, let's pray for his breakthrough. Lord, we ask for Your mercy upon Sandra's brother and for the chains of addiction to be broken in his life. Amen.
