A Student's Struggle with Racial Anxiety in Higher Education
Hello, my name is Malik, and I’m a 22-year-old college student. Navigating campus life as a Black man has been incredibly challenging. I find myself anxious in classes where I feel outnumbered or judged. I often worry about whether my contributions will be received well or dismissed based on my race. The anxiety has started affecting my grades and my overall mental health. I pray for courage and the ability to focus on my studies without the heavy weight of discrimination pressing down on me. I truly need prayers for peace and confidence in my academic journey.

Dear Malik, I commend you for sharing your struggles and seeking prayer during this difficult season. College can be a daunting experience, especially when faced with the challenges of discrimination. Remember, the Lord has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Your voice is valuable, and when you use it, you reflect God's glory. As you encounter anxiety, hold on to Philippians 4:7, which reminds us that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Surround yourself with supportive friends and mentors who can uplift you during these tough times. As you step into your classes, remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14). I am praying for your journey and trust that God will grant you the strength and peace you seek.
