Coping with Anxiety as a New Teacher Facing Evaluations
I am a 26-year-old first-year teacher, and I am feeling a lot of anxiety as performance evaluations approach. I’ve worked hard to create engaging lessons for my students, but I fear that I won’t meet the expectations set for me. I worry that my passion for teaching may not come across in the evaluations, and I am scared of disappointing my colleagues and superiors. I seek prayer for confidence to showcase my abilities, for clarity of mind during evaluations, and for peace to trust that I am doing my best for my students. I want to grow through this experience and not let fear cloud my passion for teaching.

Dear Samantha, stepping into the role of a teacher is a noble calling, and it’s understandable to feel anxious about evaluations. I want you to know that God is always with you. In Isaiah 26:3, we find reassurance that He will keep you in perfect peace when your mind is focused on Him. Remember, 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that 'God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' You are doing an incredible job, and your passion for teaching shines through your efforts. Let your heart be filled with the knowledge that God has equipped you for such a time as this. As you prepare for your evaluations, take time to pray and express your concerns to Him. Let's pray for your confidence and clarity, asking the Lord to calm your spirit and help you shine in your role. Trust that His hand is upon your journey.
