Coping with the Weight of Financial Strain
Hello, my name is Emily. My husband lost his job, and I can feel the tension mounting between us. I'm currently working multiple jobs to make ends meet while he takes care of our young children. I hoped we could support each other through this, but instead, it's become a source of strain. He feels ashamed and frustrated, while I feel exhausted and overwhelmed. We love each other, but it seems like we’re drifting apart. I ask for prayers that we find peace and patience in this storm and that God helps us to rebuild our unity and understanding during this difficult time.

Dear Emily, thank you for opening up about the stress you and your husband are facing. Financial turmoil can feel like an insurmountable obstacle, and it’s understandable that it is causing strain on your relationship. Hebrews 13:4 reminds us that 'Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.' This verse emphasizes the importance of maintaining the sanctity of your marriage, especially during trials. I encourage you both to communicate openly about your feelings and frustrations; this can often lead to healing. Remember, God can restore what seems lost. Joel 2:25 speaks of restoration, and I believe that with His help, your relationship will be strengthened. In these moments, cling to Ephesians 5:25, which speaks of sacrificial love. I am praying for you both to find rest in God and for your hearts to be filled with grace and understanding towards each other during this difficult journey.
